About Tim Grimes
I'm Tim Grimes. Folks around Belmont call me the Radical Counselor. I help people relax and heal. I build better bonds, starting from inside.

Change From Within, not a fight against yourself
I started this work because so many people try hard to fix themselves. They end up feeling worse. I saw an easier way. Change comes from inside, not from pushing hard. I've seen this over and over, from Belmont to Cambridge.
My way might sound odd. Instead of pushing harder for peace, I teach people to relax into themselves first. That's when real change starts. I've watched this shift happen again and again, right here in Belmont.
You'll see this in my books, my podcast, and every session I run. Less worry, more ease. It works better than you'd think. Folks from Watertown to Arlington are surprised how fast it helps.
The rules behind every session
These are the things I think about with every client. They guide how I act, week after week. In my work, these aren't just words on a page.
Honest talk
I tell you what I truly see, not what sounds nice. You deserve plain talk, especially about your relationship. That's the only way real change happens.
Clear, fair prices
No surprise fees or mixed-up deals. You'll know the price before I start. I write it in plain words, not fine print. If extra work comes up, I tell you before, not after. Many folks got burned by quotes that grow partway through. That won't happen here. If something extra comes up, I explain it and give you a price right then. You choose if you want it handled now or later. No hidden costs show up later. What we agree on at the start is what you pay at the end.
Showing up, every time
I keep my appointments and reply fast. If something changes, you'll hear from me right away. If something makes me late, I text you right away. You won't sit around wondering if I'm coming. When you call or message with a question, I answer the same day, often sooner. Folks juggle work, kids, and the Mass Pike commute. I know your time matters as much as mine. If something moves a session, we pick a new time that works. You're never left guessing when we'll meet next.
Work that truly helps
I care about results, not just sessions on a calendar. I track what's working and change what's not. Before I start, we talk about what success looks like for you. Maybe it's fewer fights at home. Maybe it's just feeling heard again. I check back after each session to see if we're getting closer. If something isn't working, I change the plan instead of sticking with habit. Folks don't want busywork. They want real change that sticks. That's what I aim for every session.
The steps behind lasting change
Good counseling is more than just talk. It's a path with real steps. You always know where you stand. One thing most people don't realize is how much that clarity helps.
I find the real problem first
Many couples argue about chores or money. But something deeper is often going on. I find that first. The surface fight is rarely the real one.
I suggest what truly fits
Not every couple needs weekly sessions forever. I tell you what fits your life, not just a long plan. More sessions don't always mean more progress.
We stick with it together
We check in between sessions when it helps. You're never left guessing what to do next. For bigger issues, I send a quick note after each visit. It says what we covered and what's next. If something feels off, text me. I'll tell you if it's worth a closer look. Some folks like a short call before the next session. I'm happy to do that too. The goal is simple. You should always know where things stand.
Serving Belmont and nearby towns
I work out of Belmont Center. I also help folks in Watertown, Arlington, and Cambridge. In person or online, you get the same careful help.
What you can expect
Ready to talk things through?
If you feel stress, conflict, or just need a clear path, let's talk. Call Now (617) 331-7319 and we'll pick a time.
Rules that protect you
Counseling only works if you trust the person you talk to. That trust comes from doing things the right way. I've built my whole practice around that idea.
